Ron’s keen interpersonal skills, strong faith, genuine enthusiasm and optimism, and his vast experience motivating, organizing and training individuals enables him to transform lives every day at Mission Solano.
Ron founded Mission Solano, with the help and backing of the Bay Area Rescue Mission in 1998, working from a donated office and intent on turning his unique vision into a life-changing reality for the growing population of homeless and socially disadvantaged in Solano County. Ron’s goal was to offer not only shelter and a hot meal, but also spiritual, psychological, behavioral, emotional, social and vocational opportunities. Under Ron’s leadership, Mission Solano has become one of the county’s leading non-profit for homelessness and has grown to include a campus and staff of over 50 employees and hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
Mission Solano’s extraordinary success can be attributed to the groundbreaking programs Ron and his staff has developed and implemented there. Among these are the nationally recognized “Nomadic Sheltering” program and the “Social Enterprises Vocational Training” programs, (4 local businesses) which provides significant supplemental revenue that is fundamental to Mission Solano’s ongoing services and job skills training. In addition, Mission Solano’s Bridge to Life Center, which includes onsite holistic services for over 208 men, women and children.
Because of its unique holistic programs and public private partnerships, this 10 building, 30,000 square foot campus is being called the “Rescue Mission of the future.” The Bridge to Life Center includes a Culinary Arts Institute and dining hall, daycare, family units, women’s and children’s units, single men’s units, a chapel and an education center designed to transition homeless and poverty stricken individuals to confident, self-sufficient, active members of the community breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty. In this endeavor, Ron and his team secured funding from numerous charitable individuals and organizations and united business leaders, government, and the faith community in a common goal.
Ron and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Fairfield, California with their four children. In addition to his work at Mission Solano, Ron has served as a local Rotarian, served on the Board of Directors of PharmaTox, on the Fairfield Police Citizen Complaint Audit Committee, and on the Elder Board of Parkway Community Church. Ron also provides non-profit consulting and personal leadership development strategies.
